Coca-Cola system contributes €477.4 million annually to the Croatian economy through its operations, equivalent to 0.5% of Croatia’s GDP, according to the new Socio-Economic Impact Study of Coca-Cola in Croatia. The findings confirm the system’s significant contribution to economic growth, employment, and value creation throughout its value chain.

Of the total volume of soft drinks that Coca-Cola HBC placed on the Croatian market last year, more than three quarters were produced in Croatia. Likewise, more than 75% of every euro spent on Coca-Cola products remains within the Croatian economy.

Coca-Cola’s annual investments in production in Zagreb and assets across Croatia amounted to €13.9 million, while the Coca-Cola system contributed €231.8 million in tax revenues annually.

Coca-Cola has been producing beverages in Zagreb for almost 60 years and is an integral part of the Croatian economy. Our network of partners is outstanding, and one of the key drivers of our success is our cooperation with more than 2,200 domestic suppliers and 33,000 customers. This study demonstrates the value we create together, our contribution to the strength of the Croatian economy, and the competitiveness of local businesses

“True to our purpose, we have been refreshing consumers in Croatia for years while making a difference in the communities in which we operate; every bottle of Coca-Cola reflects the dedication of our Croatian employees, suppliers, and partners. The economic value we generate extends well beyond our facilities, fostering jobs and community growth nationwide. We are proud of the positive economic and social impact we generate today, and we look forward to creating a lasting value for the years to come" – emphasized Bogdan Chirita, General Manager of Coca-Cola Adria.

When we talk about the performance of the Croatian economy, we often focus on growth rates, investment, exports or employment. Yet behind each of these indicators are real companies, their employees, suppliers, customers and partners. This is precisely why studies such as this one are important. They allow us to take a broader view of a company’s contribution to the economy. Coca-Cola is a good example of this close connection with the Croatian economy, and the fact that Coca-Cola has been part of Croatia’s economic landscape for almost 60 years underscores the importance of long-term business operations and continued investment.

The Coca-Cola system employs 548 people directly and supports a total of 8,600 jobs across its value chain. This means that every job within Coca-Cola supports an additional 15 jobs in the Croatian economy.

In addition to its overall economic contribution, the study highlights the broader impact of Coca-Cola’s operations. Of the total contribution, €92.5 million relates to direct value added, while €384.9 million is generated through activities across the value chain. Consequently, every euro of direct value added supports an additional €4.16 of value throughout the rest of the Croatian economy.

Alongside its positive economic impact, Coca-Cola continued investing in community projects in 2025, allocating €323,000 to initiatives focused on environmental protection, youth empowerment through educational programs, and the promotion of active lifestyles through initiatives such as the Youth Sports Games. As a result, the Coca-Cola system’s total investment in social responsibility projects over the past five years has exceeded €1.4 million.

Following the presentation of the Study’s findings, a panel discussion entitled “Value That Stays: Partnerships for a More Competitive Croatia” was held and moderated by Andrea Čović Vidović, Deputy Head of the European Commission Representation in Croatia.

The panel featured Dimitris Rompis, General Manager of Coca-Cola HBC Adria Business Unit; Zdravka Demeter Bubalo, Chief Operating Officer, Customer Services and Retail, INA Group; Karlo Tomašić, Country Director Croatia, ALPLA; Ksenija Beljan, President of the Croatian Association of Hospitality and Tourism Schools; and Hrvoje Stojić, Chief Economist of the Croatian Employers’ Association.

Participants explored how stronger partnerships across the public and private sectors can unlock new sources of growth and competitiveness. The conversation focused on the role of local supply chains, workforce development, and knowledge exchange in creating lasting economic value. Panelists emphasized that sustainable progress requires long-term collaboration between businesses, educational institutions, and communities, helping Croatia attract investment, foster innovation, and develop the skills needed for future success.
