Coca-Cola HBC Croatia achieves full gender balance in leadership roles

Coca-Cola HBC Croatia Sustainability Report 2024

Coca-Cola HBC Croatia has published its latest Sustainability Report, highlighting the company’s significant progress in advancing sustainability throughout 2024. While back in 2017 three out of four employees were men, today women hold half of all leadership positions, marking the achievement of full gender equality. At the same time, the company has continued to invest in environmental protection, employee development, and the communities in which it operates.

Compared to 2017, direct carbon dioxide emissions have been reduced by 11%. For the tenth consecutive year, all electricity used by Coca-Cola HBC Croatia has come from renewable and clean sources, eliminating CO₂ emissions associated with purchased electricity. At the same time, 65% of the company’s refrigerators at points of sale are already energy efficient, with the goal of achieving 100% efficiency in the coming years. In addition, all consumer packaging placed on the market by Coca-Cola HBC Croatia is fully recyclable, further supporting the circular economy and the preservation of natural resources.

“Coca-Cola HBC Croatia is not only a leader in sustainable business, we are also pioneers, having been among the first companies in Croatia to publish a non-financial report back in 2003. That milestone laid the foundation for systematic and transparent monitoring of sustainability impacts. Our achievements prove that dedication and investment pay off in the long run, whether in environmental protection, diversity and inclusion, or supporting young people in our communities. I am proud of what we have accomplished together with our employees, partners, and customers, because for us, sustainability is not just part of our business, it is the foundation of our identity and our future,” said Dimitris Rompis, General Manager of Coca-Cola HBC Adria.

Coca-Cola HBC Croatia continues to make a strong contribution to local communities through numerous projects and initiatives. In partnership with Konzum, From Source to Sea project once again raised awareness of responsible packaging waste management. In 2024, clean-up activities were organized in 30 Croatian cities, where 2,200 volunteers collected and properly disposed of more than 420 tons of waste.

At the same time, the Raise the Bar program continued to strengthen the hospitality sector by offering scholarships and training to young people, with the tenth generation of students completing the Academy for bartenders and baristas. Through Raise the Bar Youth, a program designed for final-year students of hospitality and tourism schools, and with Youth Empowered project, as many as 3,220 young people across Croatia gained essential skills and knowledge to help them build successful careers.

The Sustainability Report covering results for 2024 was prepared in line with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Standards, in collaboration with the WISE Institute at IEDC-Bled School of Management and the Ekvilib Institute as external advisors. By publishing its latest, eighth non-financial report, the company once again confirmed its leadership role in sustainability, while globally Coca-Cola HBC has been ranked the world’s most sustainable beverage company for eight consecutive years.
