Applications for the tenthgeneration of Raise the Bar Academy are open

Waiters, baristas, and bartenders will learn from leading experts in hospitality

Raise the Bar Academy, a free educational program for waiters, baristas, and bartenders, is seeking new participants for its 10th educational cycle to enhance their knowledge and skills. Applications are open until the end of August, and anyone with at least one year of experience in hospitality and tourism can apply by filling out the online form at https://www.raisethebaradria.com/akademija/.

Lead instructor Dominik Bečvardi, bartender and co-owner of the Peaches & Cream bar, will guide participants through the history and production of strong alcoholic beverages, beer, wine, and coffee, as well as modern bar techniques and trends. He will be joined by Vedran Gulin, owner of SOI Fusion restaurant, who will cover bar management topics. The enology part of the program will be led by sommelier Marko Rundek, while participants will learn about beer from Andrej Čapka, director and owner of Zmajska Brewery. Coffee expert Tomislav Košutić and Mišel Posavac, Advocacy Brand Manager at Monin Beverage, will also share their knowledge and experience with the 10th edition participants.

The 10th edition of the Academy will begin in October, with classes being held at the Coca-Cola Educational Center in Zagreb. After completing the Academy, participants will be able to create their own syrups, liqueurs, and shrubs, as well as prepare 88 classic cocktails and modern classics, based on the theoretical and practical knowledge they will have gained.

To date, over 70 waiters, baristas, and bartenders have finished Raise the Bar Academy, with many currently working in some of the best restaurants and bars in Croatia, such as the Michelin-starred restaurants Noel and Dubravkin put, the Swanky Mint hostel, Peaches & Cream bar, and Roots Bar in Zagreb, as well as Bar Sistema in Split.

The Academy is a part of the strategic platform Raise the Bar Adria, through which Coca-Cola HBC Adria has been contributing to the improvement of the education quality of the workforce in hospitality and tourism since 2019. The goal of the platform is to align the skills and knowledge of hospitality and tourism professionals with the needs of employers. In addition to the Academy, the project includes Scholarships for chefs and pastry chefs and Raise the Bar Youth, an educational program aimed at final-year students in hospitality and tourism schools.
