THE WINNING SCHOOL IN THE RAISE THE BAR YOUTH PROGRAM RECEIVES ITS PRIZE
On Monday, 27 March, Coca-Cola HBC Adria formally ended the first edition of its Raise the Bar Youth program by presenting a donation of 6500 euros to the Požega School of Crafts and rewarding it with a masterclass for its senior students studying to become hospitality and tourism professionals.
The seniors of the Požega School of Crafts who chose these specialties demonstrated considerable knowledge in the quiZzes taken after completing each of the program’s five modules and thus earned this donation, which was presented to the school’s principal Iva Šnajder by Aleksandra Todorović, Customer and Community Partnership Manager at Coca-Cola HBC Adria, who underlined:
“I am very happy with the fact that, this year, we launched Raise the Bar Youth, the third component of the Raise the Bar program, to allow junior and senior students studying to become hospitality and tourism professionals across Croatia to obtain knowledge and skills in fields such as communications, teamwork and business planning and to learn about the latest trends in hospitality. We trust these skills will help them build their careers and further develop the hospitality sector in Croatia. I thank the teachers and students of the Požega School of Crafts for their hard work, the efforts they used and the knowledge they demonstrated in the course of the program and congratulate them for the prize they won – they are indeed the future of Croatian hospitality and tourism!”
In addition to the cash donation, which the school will invest in furniture for a special tourism & hotel salespersons classroom and bar equipment for practical classes, it was also rewarded by a masterclass on the subject of the importance o communication and teamwork in the hospitality sector. The masterclass was delivered by Dominik Bečvardi, co-owner of the Peaches & Cream Bar in Zagreb and Principal Lecturer at the Raise the Bar Academy, and Zrinka Suk, President and Coordinator at the Ocean of Knowledge Association, which organizes educations and trainings for young people and a lecturer in the Raise the Bar Youth program.
Principal Iva Šnajder underscored: “It is of utmost importance in the world of entrepreneurship and all forms of business to ensure that, in addition to acquiring professional competences, students master different communication skills – this is why the school and its teachers undertake the important task of preparing students for different challenges they will face as part of their future jobs. On behalf of our students, the mentors who worked with them and myself, I thank Coca-Cola for this superbly designed project that offered our students an opportunity to experience teamwork in business planning and implementation of processes beyond the confines of their school, from a quite different perspective, and thus realize the importance of assertive communication between all those involved in a specific process for business success. We hope our cooperation will continue on a new project because this was a precious experience for all of us, crowning the final efforts of our seniors studying to become hospitality professionals.”
In the first edition of Raise the Bar Youth, over 1000 students from 33 secondary schools offering hospitality and tourism programs across Croatia learned about communication, teamwork, financial literacy, business planning and self-employment. Students from 25 schools who have completed all five modules had an opportunity to take part in the prize-winning part of the program. The Požega School of Crafts won the contest, followed by the Čakovec Economics & Trade School and Požega Economics School in the second and third places, respectively, whose students will be rewarded by a masterclass.
