START OF THE SECOND EDITION OF THE RAISE THE BAR YOUTH PROGRAM, DESIGNED BY COCA-COLA TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION IN CROATIA

THREE TOP-RANKED SCHOOLS WILL WINN CASH PRIZES

The second edition of the Raise the Bar Youth program started in secondary hospitality and tourism schools across Croatia - Coca-Cola HBC Adria launched this program to help secondary school juniors and seniors improve their professional skills and knowledge and adjust them to the actual requirements of employers.

The program comprises five online modules available on a platform operated by the Croatian Office for Creativity and Innovation (HUKI), and the teachers are experts in the relevant areas and prominent representatives of their respective professions. Raise the Bar Youth will allow students of hospitality and tourism schools across Croatia to learn about communication and teamwork, the latest hospitality techniques and trends and the essentials of financial literacy, while also gaining insight into business planning and the process of starting a private business.

The first edition of the program involved more than one thousand students from 33 schools across Croatia. The teachers who joined the program as mentors gave it a high average rating of 4.75, rating the program contents, developed on the basis of Ipsos surveys, with 4.86 on a 1-5 scale.

– We are proud of the fact that the first edition of Raise the Bar Youth achieved extraordinary results and has been successfully completed by over a quarter of all juniors and seniors in schools offering hospitality and tourism programs. This second, improved edition of the program is intended to involve even more students and allow them to adopt knowledge and skills to help them find their place in the labor market and build their careers by learning from the very best Croatian hospitality experts and top professionals. said Bruno Jelić, Director of the Corporate Affairs and Sustainability Department at Coca-Cola HBC Adria.

This year’s edition of the program is being implemented for the same purpose, however, with certain modifications resulting from feedback received from last year’s participants. The program now includes students studying to become agrotourism professionals, and our prize awarding rules were also upgraded. Specifically, Coca-Cola HBC Adria rewards the top three schools based on the number of students participating in the program and their quiz results. Last year, the cash prize was won by the Požega School of Crafts, whereas the second edition of the program provides for cash prizes from Coca-Cola HBC Adria for all three top schools. The most successful school will receive a cash prize of 5000 euros, the runner-up will receive 3000 euros, whereas the third-ranked school will receive 2000 euros.

Raise the Bar Youth is the third and latest program as part of the Raise the Bar Adria strategic platform, designed to align the skills and competences of hospitality and tourism professionals with employers’ requirements. The program was developed on the basis of a survey conducted by Ipsos among principals, teachers, students and former students at hospitality schools, who listed the skills and competences they consider insufficiently addressed by the standard curriculum.
