Along with important economic indicators for the Croatian economy, President Josipović pointed out how he deems it especially important that Coca‑Cola promotes corporate social responsibility and invests in the education of its employees.
Croatian President Ivo Josipović received a Coca‑Cola delegation yesterday on the occasion of the company’s 45 years of production and existence on the Croatian market. Coca‑Cola has been bottled in the bottling plant on Milana Sachsa Street in Zagreb continuously since September 17, 1968, and over this time period the company has made a significant contribution as an important participant in the country’s economic and social life.
During the reception, the General Manager of Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia Mircea Draja informed President Josipović about Coca‑Cola’s business operations in Croatia and presented the results of the recently completed Study on the Socio-Economic Impact of Coca‑Cola in Croatia in 2012.
The study was prepared over the past nine months in cooperation with the renowned international consulting firm Steward Redqueen and under the guidance of prof. Ethan B. Kapstein. It shows that Coca‑Cola contributed with 33.8 billion HRK to Croatia’s overall economy over the past 18 years, which constitutes approximately 0.9% of the total national GDP in this period.
It shows that of every 1 HRK spent on Coca‑Cola as much as 0.90 HRK remains in Croatia, and apart from its direct contribution to the economy such as 125 million HRK in taxes and 554 jobs, Coca‑Cola also makes numerous indirect contributions to the Croatian economy. For example, for every 1 HRK Coca‑Cola directly contributes, it indirectly contributes another 9 HRK to GDP, and for each job at Coca‑Cola, the company provides another 12 jobs in the wider economy.
Along with these important economic indicators for the Croatian economy, President Josipović pointed out how he deems it especially important that Coca‑Cola promotes corporate social responsibility, invests in the education of its employees and organises sports and eco projects for children and young people. On the occasion of the 45th anniversary of Coca‑Cola in Croatia, the company was also visited by a Croatian Government delegation on Tuesday.
