CSR Index Award, presented by the Croatian Chamber of Economy and the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development, is yet another acknowledgement of company achievements in the field of corporate social responsibility.

Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia has once again won recognition for its corporate social responsibility efforts. The company received a CSR Index Award in the category of large companies. The award was presented yesterday evening at the National and University Library of Zagreb as part of the annual "Zlatna kuna” award ceremony, organised by the Croatian Chamber of Economy.

Jakša Barbić, Fellow of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia, received a Lifetime Achievement Award. He introduced company law into the Croatian legal system.

CSR Index refers to a methodology which aims to assess CSR practices used by Croatian companies. It was designed in line with similar methodologies used around the world and it defines a number criteria to assess corporate practices in six main areas: economic sustainability, implementing corporate social responsibility in business strategies, working environment, environmental protection, market relations and relations with the local community.

Ramon Weidinger, General Manager of Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia, said: "Corporate social responsibility and investing in the community are two main principles incorporated in business practices across the bottling group that Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia is a part of. We truly believe in all values promoted by this CSR Award and we are, therefore, particularly pleased that the CSR Index recognised our efforts and that we were presented with yet another award.”

Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia is one of the leading producers of soft drinks in Croatia. The company first entered the Croatian market in 1968. It was one of the first companies in Croatia, as well as one of the first Coca‑Cola branches in the world, to begin promoting corporate social responsibility. By publishing its first Social Report in 2003 and the first Sustainability Report in 2005, the company started reporting on its business activities and its effect on the community and the society in general.

At the end of 2009, the company issued a Sustainability report for 2007 and 2008, which got the highest possible score from the independent committee of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development. Some of the most important CSR projects launched by the company, contributed to better understanding of public-private partnerships and the need to further develop cross-sectoral partnerships. Two projects received prestigious international awards. Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia already received a CSR Index Award in 2008 for its sustained efforts in the field of corporate social responsibility.
