The manual encourages appropriate language practices in business communication, and since the initial idea was surpassed during the manual’s compilation, the company decided to publish it on the websites www.hrpsor.hr and www.prirucnik.hr.

The Language Manual of Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia was introduced to the public yesterday and is now available on the special website www.prirucnik.hr and on the website of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development (www.hrpsor.hr), to which the company has presented the manual for the free use thereof.

Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia decided to make the manual publicly available due to the great interest for the manual and the numerous inquiries the company received after it distributed the manual amongst its employees on October 17 this year. At this point, leading faculties and educational institutions, companies, government institutions and individuals requested a copy of the manual, while the manual also received top reviews from leading Croatian economists, linguists and experts for business communication and sustainable development.

The reason for the great public interest also stems from the lack of a specialized business manual in Croatia so far which addresses the most common concerns and proposes language solutions to business people.

Yesterday’s publication of The Language Manual of Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia on the website of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development was attended by representatives of leading socially responsibly companies in Croatia brought together by HR PSOR and they were addressed by Zlatan Fröhlich, the president of the Croatian Chamber of Economy – Zagreb Chamber, Mirjana Matešić, the head of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development, and Boška Trbojević, the director of Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia’s Public Affairs and Communication Department and head of the project The Language Manual of Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia. The manual was presented by its authors Lana Hudeček, scientific adviser at the Institute of Croatian Language and Linguistics, Maja Matković, longstanding head of proofreaders and editors at Večernji list, and Igor Ćutuk, public affairs supervisor at Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia, who headed the Business Communication Culture project over the past three years, the objective of which was to raise the business communication level within the company.

“This book is a useful aid in resolving linguistic and stylistic dilemmas in business communication in Croatian. Although it was initiated with the aim to raise the language culture level in communication within the company, this language manual can be useful for the entire business community. I can only conclude: Let’s use it and respect the Croatian language”, pointed out Zlatan Fröhlich, the head of HGK – Zagreb Chamber.

“The Language Manual of Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia is the best indicator of our continuous efforts to be accountable towards our own language, in line with the social responsibility principles which are the basis for our day-to-day business operations. After distributing the manual to our employees we decided to make it available to everyone, with the aim to contribute to raising the general level of language culture in business communication”, explained Boška Trbojević, the director of Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia’s Public Affairs and Communication Department and the head of the project The Language Manual of Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia.

“The language manual shows that Coca‑Cola understands the essence of socially responsible conduct since this project is an example of a unique and original socially responsible activity which combines knowledge and efforts, and the result is an immeasurable contribution to the community in terms of improving language culture and business communication. Congratulations to Coca‑Cola for its extraordinary efforts along with the recommendation to everyone to try to use the manual’s instructions in their business communication”, said Mirjana Matešić, the head of the Croatian Business Council for Sustainable Development.

All expert opinions received are presented in their entirety on the website www.prirucnik.hr.
