The objective of the promotional campaign is to point out the importance of safe and responsible driving with the aim to increase traffic safety and reduce the number of traffic accidents.

Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia is marking Safe Driving Week October 24-28 which promotes responsible behaviour in traffic and safe driving principles, particularly those which pertain to dangers caused through mobile phone use while driving. With the promotional campaign employees are called upon to respect speed limits, the use of safety belts, it cautions about dangers arising from driving under the influence of fatigue and alcohol and highlights and encourages regular vehicle maintenance, which is very important, especially at the beginning of the winter season.

“With the campaign we want to caution employees that regardless as to whether they are a driver, passenger or pedestrian and whether they operate a personal vehicle, truck or forklift, there are actions which will contribute to reducing the number of driving accidents and their impact on our employees, their families and the community we live and work in”, said Boška Trbojević, the director of the Public Affairs and Communication Department of Coca‑Cola HBC Croatia.

Safe Driving Week is also marked in other subsidiaries of Coca‑Cola Hellenic Group, which is amongst the companies with the biggest car fleet in Europe with about 19,000 vehicles. Determined in its intention to increase the safety of its car fleet, it carries out numerous activities such as setting and applying a unique policy in relation to car fleet safety in all countries belonging to Coca‑Cola Hellenic Group and in relation to the development and implementation of a driver training method. In addition, Mobileye C2-270 systems are installed in vehicles, which increases driver and vehicle safety multi-fold, alerting drivers about the danger of colliding with pedestrians, cyclists or other vehicles, indicating unintentional traffic lane changes and warning drivers about an insufficient distance to the vehicle in front of them or if they are approaching such vehicles too fast.

In November 2010, Coca‑Cola Hellenic Group received at the renowned Fleet Europe Awards three main prizes, including first prize for car fleet safety in the environmental protection and so-called green car fleet category.

Since February this year, Coca‑Cola Hellenic Group is also a signatory of the European Road Safety Charter, which was conceived by the European Commission with the aim to reduce the number of road accident victims by 25,000 by the end of 2020. Safe Driving Week coincides with the European Week for Safety and Health, which is marked every year by the European Agency for Health and Safety at Work, and it also coincides with the Decade of Action in Road Safety which is marked by the United Nations.
